WORLD FIRST: CANAL+ INNOVATES TO CREATE DYSTITLES, THE FIRST SUBTITLES ADAPTED FOR JOINT READING BY DYSLEXIC AND NON-DYSLEXIC PEOPLE

CANAL+ Group has always been a pioneer in content creation, and continues to invent new ways to watch them. That’s why it launches today Dystitles - subtitles adapted for joint reading by dyslexic and non-dyslexic people, now available exclusively for all CANAL+ subscribers.

This unique inclusive innovation is the result of a collaboration between CANAL+, the Puissance Dys association and BETC agency. Its launch comes a few days before National Dyslexia Day, which affects 8 to 12% of the world population*.

The Dystitles typography was created based on one of the typographies that uses the “Bilexie” method developed by Béatrice Sauvageot, researcher and president of the Puissance Dys association, which revolutionised the approach to dyslexia. The unique design of the characters plays with the depth and counterforms of the letters, meaning dyslexic readers no longer have to decipher them, while still being understandable for non-dyslexic people.

Initially available on www.canalplus.com and connected televisions (LG, Hisense, Samsung, Playstation and Xbox), these subtitles will soon be available on iOS and Android mobiles/tablets via the myCANAL app, as well as CANAL+ decoders.

With Dystitles, the CANAL+ Group is strengthening its commitment to inclusion, so that as many people as possible can access all its programmes in the best possible conditions.
