The CANAL+ group deeply regrets the decision of the Conseil d’État, the supreme administrative jurisdiction in France, to dismiss C8’s appeal.

This unprecedented decision in the history of the French digital terrestrial television results in the outright ousting of C8, a channel which has been in the audiovisual landscape for almost 20 years, and has continuously ranked as the leading DTT channel, with a total of over 9 million viewers every day.

In view of the economic, social and competitive implications, an entire ecosystem is being sacrificed. Nearly 400 employees and providers of C8 are about to lose their job or see it jeopardised.

This decision is all the more inexplicable, seeing that 4 TV frequencies, which used to be occupied by the CANAL+ group pay-TV channels, are still available.

The CANAL+ group is proud of the work and commitment of C8 employees and partners, who have contributed to C8’s achievements as an emblematic channel with a multitude of formats, and an inclusive, popular channel which has demonstrated its vivacity.

C8 would like to sincerely thank its viewers for their unwavering support throughout the last years. Finally, the channel would like to express its deepest gratitude towards each and every one of its talented contributors. Their commitment and passion have helped create a unique channel, which has left and will continue to leave a mark in the French audiovisual landscape.
