Outside of Europe, the CANAL+ group has strong exposure to high-growth markets, primarily in Africa and Asia, where it had approximately 9.7 million subscribers as of year-end 2024.

Africa and Asia present significant growth opportunities for the CANAL+ group, supported by secular trends - dynamic demographic growth, growing economy, continued increase in electrification and enhanced broadband penetration are expected to continue to drive market growth in Africa and parts of Asia.

CANAL+ in Africa: A strategic and longstanding Commitment

CANAL+ has been operating in Africa for over 30 years and is now present in more than 40 countries across the continent.

It is the leading pay-TV provider in 19 French-speaking countries, offering nearly 400 channels — including 250 in French and local languages featuring African content, and 110 international channels — all accessible live or via the CANAL+ digital app.

In July 2025, CANAL+ and Netflix signed an agreement to expand their distribution partnership across French-speaking Africa. CANAL+ relies on a strong network of over 17,000 retail outlets and more than 300 distribution partners, ensuring broad coverage and local accessibility.

Through its subsidiary GVA, a telecom operator specializing in internet access, the group also distributes Canalbox fiber offers in 9 countries, with the ambition to democratize access to high-speed broadband.

On 22 September 2025, CANAL+ took control of MultiChoice, the leading media company in English and Portuguese-speaking Africa for over 30 years, headquartered in South Africa.

Its portfolio includes iconic brands such as DStv, GOtv, Showmax, M-Net, and SuperSport, supported by a network of over 15,000 retail outlets.

By leveraging MultiChoice’s presence and expertise in non-French-speaking regions, CANAL+ aims to strengthen its position as a leading media and entertainment player across Africa — a continent rich in diversity and opportunity.

This strategic alliance will enhance the offering of premium African content, amplify the reach of African cultures and stories beyond the continent, invest in local creative and sports ecosystems, as well as training and continuing to support the deployment of cutting-edge technological platforms.
