Renewal of UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RIGHTS IN FRENCH-SUBSAHARAN AFRICA
CANAL+ RENEWS UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RIGHTS IN FRENCH-SPEAKING SUBSAHARAN AFRICA AND CONFIRMS ITS STATUS AS THE MAIN PLATFORM OF WORLD AND AFRICAN FOOTBALL
The CANAL+ Group renews the rights to the UEFA Champions League for the 2024/2027 cycle, reinforcing its position as a major player in the broadcasting of prime football competitions in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa.
For the next three seasons CANAL+ will broadcast first-pick Wednesday evening matches from the UEFA Champions League, as well as the UEFA Champions League Final and the UEFA Super Cup, on an exclusive basis.
The rights also include a Wednesday show that will feature highlights of all matches of the season, as CANAL+ African subscribers will not miss a single goal of the competition and will benefit from the editorial expertise of CANAL+’s journalists and pundits. CANAL+, which broadcasts the world's top leagues in the 2023/2024 season, has thus confirmed its position as a leading sports broadcaster in Africa offering its subscribers a unique sports line-up in 2024 which began with an exceptional coverage of the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on the dedicated CANAL+ CAN channel.
CANAL+ subscribers were also able to enjoy the start of the UEFA Champions League knockout stage on February 13th on the CANAL+ Sport channels, leading up to the final in London on June 1st.
"We are delighted to continue to offer exclusively to our African subscribers Wednesday's first match picks and final of one of Europe's most prestigious football competitions. This is fully in line with CANAL+'s approach in Africa: we want our subscribers to have access to the best of international football," says Jacques du Puy, President of CANAL+ INTERNATIONAL.
CANAL+ is indisputably the number one sports destination and the only offer in French-speaking Africa to broadcast more than 1,000 football matches per year, notably the UEFA Champions League and the top 6 international leagues (Premier League, LaLiga, Ligue 1 Uber Eats, Serie A, Bundesliga and Saudi Pro League) in 2023/2024.
In addition, CANAL+ offers its subscribers exclusive coverage of major international sports competitions such as the NBA, Formula 1, MotoGP or UFC. CANAL+ is also known as home to some of the best leading experts and commentators, who also host iconic shows such as “Talents d'Afrique” or “Les Grandes Bouches”
