22 May 2024

CANAL+ WINS EXCLUSIVE BROADCASTING RIGHTS FOR THE TOP 14 AND PRO D2 UNTIL THE END OF THE 2031/2032 SEASON

As broadcaster of the TOP 14 for almost 30 years, and holder of the rights to this competition until the end of the 2026/2027 season, CANAL+ is delighted to have won the new call for tenders from the National Rugby League for the exclusive broadcasting rights to the TOP 14 and PRO D2, up to and including the 2031/2032 season.

These broadcasting rights cover all TOP 14 and PRO D2 matches exclusively, live and semi-live, and the programmes related to them. This means the CANAL+ Group will be able to offer 434 TOP 14 and PRO D2 matches per season on its channels and services.

The TOP 14 brings together the greatest players in the world, such as Antoine Dupont (Stade Toulousain, France), Gregory Alldritt (Stade Rochelais, France), Siya Kolisi (Racing 92, South Africa), Sam Whitelock (Section Paloise, New Zealand), Semi Radradra (LOU, Fiji), Romain Ntamack (Stade Toulousain, France) and, starting next season, Owen Farrell (Racing 92, England), to name but a few. This flagship competition in French rugby will be led by expert broadcasts, such as CANAL RUGBY CLUB, a magazine programme broadcast unencrypted around the fixture list in prime time. PRO D2, the breeding ground of French professional rugby, deeply rooted in the hearts of supporters, will also continue to enjoy premium exposure.

Maxime Saada, Chairman of CANAL+ Group, comments:

"We’re very proud to have won this new call for tenders, which will allow us to offer our subscribers the TOP 14, the best Rugby championship in the world, and the PRO D2 until the end of the 2031/2032 season. French rugby has always been one of the pillars of CANAL+'s sports offering. Because it’s always been there for us, we will always be there for French rugby. We have been working hand in hand with the National Rugby League since 1998 to promote this sport with its strong values and offer it the best possible exposure on our channels. We warmly thank the National Rugby League and its President René Bouscatel for the renewed trust they have placed in us."

Thomas Sénécal, Director of Sports for the CANAL+ Group, adds:

“I’m particularly pleased that the historic partnership between CANAL+ and the National Rugby League is to continue. To support our Sports, the teams work day after day to offer the TOP 14 and PRO D2 exceptional coverage. For the next 8 years at least, we can guarantee our subscribers premium programmes at the service of rugby: immersive and innovative broadcasts; creative, responsive digital content; analysis programmes with the best experts; reports and documentaries in the great tradition of CANAL+; and event days such as Boxing Day. The history of the TOP 14 will continue to be written on CANAL+ with a shared desire: to bring out the very best of the world’s leading rugby championship. Thank you to our partner the National Rugby League and all the TOP 14 and PRO D2 clubs for putting their trust in us.”
