Outside of Europe, the CANAL+ group has strong exposure to high-growth markets, primarily in Africa and Asia, where it had approximately 9.5 million subscribers as of year-end 2023.
Africa and Asia present significant growth opportunities for the CANAL+ group, supported by secular trends - dynamic demographic growth, growing economy, continued increase in electrification and enhanced broadband penetration are expected to continue to drive market growth in Africa and parts of Asia.
AFRICA
The CANAL+ group has operated in Africa for over 30 years and is now present in more than 20 countries. It is the leading subscription-TV operator in 19 French-speaking countries.
The CANAL+ group offers nearly 360 channels, including 250 channels in French and local languages with local content along with c. 110 international channels. It has a sales network comprised of over 17,000 points of sale and over 300 distribution partners.
The CANAL+ group is currently undertaking a takeover offer of MultiChoice Group, of which it already owns 45.2%. MultiChoice is a South African headquartered African media leader, with a strong footprint in English and Portuguese speaking Africa across over 21 million households. It is a highly complementary business to the existing operations the CANAL+ group has in Africa. Once completed, the combination will create an African media and entertainment group, better positioned to serve consumers across the continent with leading local creative and sporting content, showcase local content to a global audience, invest in Africa’s creative and sporting ecosystems and continue to enable the rollout of industry leading technology platforms. The CANAL+ group's offer for Multichoice Group is subject to the fulfilment of several conditions precedent, including approval by the South African competition authorities. The CANAL+ group also operates CanalOlympia, a network of entertainment venues, which screen international and African films in French-speaking Africa. These venues serve as culture and social centres for local communities.

The CANAL+ group has maintained a strong presence in Vietnam for over 15 years and in Myanmar for 6 years, ranking amongst the top 3 subscription-TV and OTT providers in Myanmar.
Overall, the CANAL+ group offers more than 130 channels and thousands of hours of on-demand content to more than a million subscribers in the region.
In Vietnam, the CANAL+ group operates through Vietnam Satellite Digital Television Company Limited, subscription-TV packages branded “K+” that bundle local and international channels.
In Myanmar, CANAL+ operates under a joint venture agreement with the Forever Group which provides access to 64 channels including those produced specifically in the Burmese language and showcasing local content.
The CANAL+ group also owns a 37.2% stake in the OTT platform Viu. With over 62 million monthly active users and 13 million subscribers, Viu ranks amongst the top 3 SVOD/AVOD players in Southeast Asia in terms of revenues.
